The founder and CEO of Capital City Roofing’s first book lays out the Practice Code, four disciplines: Doctrine, Discipline, Perseverance, and Faithfulness.
ALPHARETTA, GA, UNITED STATES, October 20, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Brad Strawbridge, founder and CEO of Capital City Roofing, has released Courage Is a Practice: A Field Guide for Builders, Leaders, and Operators Under Pressure. The book treats courage as a daily practice built on four disciplines rather than as a personality trait. It is available now on Amazon in paperback and Kindle editions.
Courage Is a Practice argues that courage under pressure does not come from temperament or confidence. Across 11 chapters, Strawbridge lays out the Practice Code, a framework of four disciplines:
Doctrine: a predetermined standard of behavior that governs action when emotion would otherwise take control.
Discipline: the practice of acting before confidence arrives.
Perseverance: the willingness to continue when results are delayed, attention is absent, and the work has stopped feeling new.
Faithfulness: obedience to principle when the scoreboard is silent and the reward has not arrived.
Each chapter ends with five Practice Drills, specific exercises that most readers can run within seven days. A Reading Guide with discussion questions supports book clubs, leadership teams, men’s groups, mastermind cohorts, and off-sites for companies that run on the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS).
The book is written for operators, founders, executives, contractors, team leaders, pastors, coaches, and anyone else carrying responsibility that exceeds their title. Strawbridge draws on his experience running Capital City Roofing, a residential, multifamily, and commercial roofing company headquartered in Alpharetta, with active operations across the Southeast.
“Courage is not a feeling. It is a system. The Practice Code is that system. The rest of the book is how to install it,” Strawbridge writes in the book’s Introduction.
“In Courage Is [a] Practice, Brad Strawbridge makes the compelling case that courage is not an innate trait, but a skill developed through practice, experience, and the choices we make every day. Drawing on his own leadership journey, he offers practical insights that inspire readers to grow with intention, lead with conviction, and embrace challenges with confidence. His message is both authentic and actionable, making this a valuable resource for leaders, like me, at every stage of their careers. Congratulations to Brad on this outstanding accomplishment, and I encourage everyone to add Courage Is [a] Practice to their reading list,” said Alison L. LaValley, CAE, Vice President – NRCA | Executive Director, Roofing Alliance.
“After building successful organizations in the roofing industry, I’ve learned that lasting performance comes from clear standards, consistent coaching, and systems people can carry forward—not from a leader’s personality alone. In Courage Is a Practice, Brad Strawbridge turns that principle into a practical framework, showing how doctrine, discipline, perseverance, and faithfulness help leaders hold standards and build a culture of accountability when results are slow and pressure is real. Brad’s chapter on the cost of visibility especially resonated with me: the work and the people doing it have to come before the story we tell about them,” said Steve Little, President & Head Coach, KPost Roofing & Waterproofing, and Founder & CEO, National Roofing Partners.
