Former President Barack Obama criticized President Donald Trump’s White House renovations during a campaign rally in Cleveland, Ohio, saying the extensive, gold-heavy work reflected a misplaced focus compared with lowering gas prices for Americans.

Trump later responded to Obama’s comments through Truth Social, according to the information provided. The substance of that response was not specified, and no direct quotations from either man were included.

The account does not provide the date of the rally, details about the renovations, or specific remarks beyond the summary of Obama’s criticism. It also does not identify which campaign the rally was supporting or provide information about the cost, scope, or timing of the White House work. No details were provided about any response beyond Trump’s post on Truth Social.

The exchange placed the renovations alongside the cost of gasoline as a point of political criticism. Obama’s comments, as summarized, contrasted the attention given to the White House project with the issue of lowering gas prices for Americans. The available information does not specify whether he discussed particular renovation features beyond describing the work as extensive and gold-heavy.

Further details about Trump’s reply, including its wording and when it was posted, were not provided. The information also does not state whether either president made additional comments about the issue. Without those details, the reported exchange is limited to Obama’s criticism at the Cleveland rally and Trump’s subsequent response on Truth Social.
